Inauguration of the Huesna Tunnel executed by Minesur Ingeniería. An engineering project championing sustainability.

9 km of pipeline of which 6.3 km of water will be transported by gravity from the reservoir to the DWTP of the Consorcio del Huesna. The embankments, as well as the conditioning of the communication roads, the service road and the installation of the pipeline in a trench involved the execution of cuttings and embankments, in accordance with the topography of the land. The excavation of the tunnel required the application of mining methods and the use of explosives.


Keys to sustainability:

Transport of water by gravity without the need for pumping, taking advantage of the slope of the land.

Reduction of 89% in carbon dioxide emissions by eliminating pumping.

Energy savings, an estimated 10 GWh/year.

Water efficiency, water is captured directly from the reservoir, improving its quality and reducing losses.
